Love Unfeigned by Nadine Keels

Love Unfeigned

Hello Dear Romantics!

So I have two things to tell you about this week. One is a fabulous novella that I will get to in just a minute the other is an announcement!

Next week yours truly will be a blog tour for a newly released clean romance by Danyelle Ferguson called Sweet Confections.  There will be an interview and a giveaway by Ms. Ferguson and it promises to be tons of fun. So make sure to tune in next week.

Now for this weeks exceptionally great find.  In actuality this novella found me. (Love it when great reads come to me. Makes life a little easier.)

Love Unfeigned by Nadine Keels is the story of Lorraine and James and follows them through their growing up years of second / third grade to high school. Their ups and downs and what seems like the disintegration of their relationship.

When the story opens up the two of them are adults and have a chance meeting where James saves Lorraine from almost getting hit by a car as she is about to cross the street. (How galant!)

From there the story takes us into how the two first met back in grade school. Lorraine was a second grade wiz kid when it came to wall ball.  The kids in her grade weren’t enough of a challenge for her so she decided to take on older kids.

So one day during recess she and her best friend Sara go over to the Third graders to find some fresh challengers.  She runs into her older brother Earl and his best friend James. Lorraine is instantly attracted to James because of his braces and from then on in her mind he is known to her as “Braces Boy”.

As the two grow up it is obvious that James is attracted to Lorraine, aka “Itty-Bitty”, and all of a sudden their little world comes to a crashing halt when James’s parents get a divorce and he is no longer able to spend as much time with Earl and Lorraine.

There is a plot twist though that I never saw coming and I’m not gonna ruin it by telling you but I will say that it explains a lot of Lorraine’s reactions after they reunite as adults.

Will Lorraine and James be able to get over their differences?  Will James be lost to Lorraine forever?  What is that plot twist?

Ha! I guess you’ll have to read the book to find out!

Only two or three kissing scenes. Nothing that is really toe curling but so much emotion behind the story and you can feel what these two characters feel for each other.

Her Minnesota Man by Brenda Coulter

Hello My Dear Romantics!

Another week, another wonderful read just for you!

This week’s pick is Her Minnesota Man by Brenda Coulter. Some of you might recognize Ms. Coulter’s name from a few of her mass circulated books through Harlequin. After great success with them she decided to go on her own and independently publish this wonderful work of fiction.

In this story, we are introduced to Jackson Bell the lead guitarist and founder of the band Skeptical Heart. After years of hard living, groupies, drugs, and alcohol Jackson has finally become a Christian. The problem is he doesn’t exactly know what to do with his new-found faith and his very secular unholy band and lyrics. Jackson decides that after the last tour stop he’s going home to talk to his next door neighbor, Laney Ryland.

Laney is the quintessential girl next door. She quiet, warm-hearted, and has been secretly in love with Jackson all her life. She’s also a strong Christian woman who knows she can’t have a romantic relationship with Jackson while he is unsaved. Laney and her now deceased mother have been the only shining lights in Jackson’s life. Jackson’s mother passed away while he was still very young and his father was a verbally abusive drunk. Is it any wonder Jackson turned out the way he did?

Of course, no story is complete without a few wacky aunts to shake things up. Laney has three great aunts, Caroline, Aggie, and Millie, nicknamed The Three Graces. Triplets who have been known to put Jackson through the wringer over the years including making him wear a pink bunny costume for a fund-raiser.

(Can you just imagine a guy who is over 6 feet tall wearing a pink bunny costume!?! Too hilarious!)

So to recap we’ve got three wacky aunts, a brooding newly saved rising rock legend, and a sweet girl next door who’s desperately in love with her bad boy next door neighbor. Hmm…sounds like a beautiful, laugh out loud, fun time to me!

Will Jackson be able to figure out what to with his career? How will Laney react when she finds out that Jackson is now a Christian? Can Jackson overcome all the crud in his life to build a new life with Laney? Will the Three Graces approve of Jackson?

Gotta read the book to find out!!!

Priced to Move by Ginny Aiken

Hello Romantics!

This week’s pick is what I’m calling one of my forgotten favorites. Sometimes I read so many books that I inadvertently forget about ones I read a year or so ago but I know I really liked it. This whole series I actually read before I started this blog and while I was scrolling through my list of books I stumbled across this one and decided to review it for you.

The book is Priced to Move by Ginny Aiken and is the first book in the Shop-Til-U-Drop Collection.

This is book is a mystery, laugh-out-loud, romantic geology lesson that no romantic can pass up! Now I’m sure some of you are probably wondering how in the world can geology be romantic? Well, If you are a lover of pretty stones like our heroine Andrea Adams, you can see the romance in it.

Andrea is a buyer of loose cut gem stones for an exclusive jewelry house in New York City and has just come back from a grueling buying trip when her boss wants her to make another quick trip out to India. She is exhausted from her last trip but can’t seem to say no when it comes to pretty jewels.

However, before she can get ready to get on the next flight out Andrea has a phone conversation with her adorable and flighty Aunt Weeby and her cohort Ms. Mona Latimer. It seems Aunt Weeby has broken her leg and is now in need of help.

So Andrea leaves her job and heads down to Louisville, Kentucky to take care of her aunt. While there, Ms. Mona offers Andrea a job on her newly created Shopping Network called S.T.U.D. (Shop-Til-U-Drop) where Andrea will serve as a TV host/ buyer for loose stones.  Loose stones she can definitely do but live television! Does the words “Yikes” come to mind!?!

Unbeknownst to her, Mona has hired a co-host that knows nothing about geology but everything about being on television. The man who is the resident stud of the S.T.U.D. network, Mr. Max Matthews, a tall, blond, silk suited, jaw dropping stud to be exact! 😉

Let me tell you there are fireworks both on and off camera for these two but not of  the warm and fuzzy variety. More like the fight like cats and dogs kind of fireworks. Then, all of a sudden strange things start happening around the studio and Aunt Weeby’s home. Things like a man being found murdered in the jewel vault of the studio, and fires in the middle of night! Not to mention people’s offices and dressing rooms being ransacked.

Who killed the man in the vault? Will Andrea be able to create a new life for herself in Louisville and stay out of jail? Will Andrea and Max ever get along and move into something a little more? Hmm…sounds like you’ll have to read the book to find out!

Hello My Dear Romantics!

I hope you all are having a beautiful Wednesday!

This weeks read is a Young Adult/Coming of Age story that I enjoyed quite a bit.

Courting the Clearwaters is the story of Shawn is young man in college who has recently become saved and is on his way to his first College Retreat. On the way to the hotel he asks his new friend Seth about a girl in the College and Career age group that has interested him. A Ms. Jenny Clearwater to be exact.

That’s when Seth clues him in on the fact that Jenny and her parents don’t believe in dating but in courtship. For those who don’t understand what courtship entails I’ll give you a rough idea of it.

Basically courtship is almost like dating with a purpose. A young man goes to his parents and asks for guidance and prayer if there is a certain young lady he is interested in then once he gets the ok from his parents then he approaches the the girls parents and asks for permission to get to know their daughter and see if they are suited to possibly getting married in the future. Once he has her parents permission that’s when he and the girl are allowed to get to know each other.

After learning what courting means Shawn is pretty sure he doesn’t fit the bill and decides that he won’t try to pursue a dating relationship with Jenny.

Jenny is definitely attracted to Shawn and they start a great friendship but she knows that Shawn is trying to become a stronger Christian and doesn’t want to court her at this time.

Will Shawn be able to overcome his insecurities and ask to court Jenny? Will Mr. Clearwater allow Shawn to court his daughter? Will Shawn be able to get rid of the anger and issues of his past?

Read the book and find out!

This is not a conventional romance. There is one small kiss on the cheek. The real love story, in a way is how Shawn grows in his love for God as well as in his love for Jenny

Not His Type by Lisa Crane

Hello Romantics!

I missed posting last week!

I have no excuse I just ran out of time and before I realized it Wednesday had come and gone.

This week though I’m back with a delightful read by Lisa Crane called Not His Type.

Brooke Valentine is a young woman working two jobs and going to school trying to get her business degree.  She’s had some hard times between her grandfather’s long illness, a father who took off after she was born and a mother who is a stripper for a living and wasn’t around much during her growing up, she has become a remarkably strong woman.

Travis Cooper has just bought a parcel of land from Brooke and is building a house next to hers. Due to some negligence on the part of some of his construction crew, Brooke has a terrible, near fatal accident in front of his home. Travis comes to her rescue and rushes Brooke to the hospital.

While waiting to find out her condition, Travis learns more about his quiet little neighbor. Like the fact that her first name is Bunny and that her mother is demanding money from her.

Feeling responsible for Brooke’s accident and the loss of one of her jobs Travis decides to pay for Brooke’s expenses and help her out as much of possible.  Of course, Brooke is so used to doing things on her own she fights him almost every step of the way.

Things get interesting, however, when out of the blue Travis kisses Brooke one night when she is helping him with his books for his security business! (That kiss was amazing!!!!!!)

The biggest problem though is that Travis insists that Brooke isn’t his type. He’s always dated the long-legged, professional, fashionably dressed type of woman. This petite, spunky brunette couldn’t possibly be the woman for him…or is she?

Will Travis see Brooke as the woman of his dreams? Will Brooke ever see herself as the beautiful woman she is? Sounds like you’ll have to read the book to find out!
