Happy early Thanksgiving my Dear Romantics!!!

I believe that everyday we should stop and count all of our blessings big and small! However on Thanksgiving Day as we are gathering around the table with friends and family I hope we are doubly reminded of just how wonderful our lives truly are.

Today, I have the honor of reviewing/introducing to you a new release from my friend, Charmain Brackett. The name of her newest masterpiece is called Fixed in the Tempest. You may have seen some of her other work in the Dystopian genre, a 3 book series called the Key of Elyon. This book is her first foray into Contemporary Literature.

Fixed in the Tempest is different from most of my picks in that this story highlights a couple who is already married.

Lisa and Tom have had over 20 years of what Lisa thinks is a blissful marriage. Lisa has been primarily a stay at home mom while working for the local newspaper on a part-time basis. Tom has been a wonderful provider, loving husband, and great father to their two children.  But not all is well in their little world.

As the story opens Lisa and Tom are taking their youngest to college. Lisa is now facing an empty nest and her job at the newspaper has come to an end. Tom seems to be spending more and more time at the office and she isn’t sure what to think anymore.

A few months before taking Lisa to college Tom was in a terrible accident with a teenage driver.  Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything he could do to help save the driver, a young girl about the same age as their daughter, Brittany. To deal with the pain and stress Tom turns to alcohol. Which opens up some very painful memories.

Instead of talking to Lisa and trying to get some help for himself, Tom ends up having an affair with a younger woman.

Will Lisa be able to forgive Tom for his infidelity? Will Tom be able to get his life back together? Can Lisa get back in touch with her first love?

You’ll have to read the book to find out!!!

Fixed in the Tempest releases November 30th at the Book Tavern located in downtown Augusta, GA for any local fans and the e-book version will be live December 1st!

The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back By Sariah Wilson

Countdown to Black Friday Deals Week

Shop Amazon – Countdown to Black Friday in Magazines

(In  a sing-song voice) Hello Romantics!!!

So as all my earlier followers know my all time favorite fairy tale is (drum roll please)

Cinderella!!!

I mean it’s every little girls fantasy of a handsome prince coming along and sweeping the princess off to live happily ever after. (Big romantic sigh)

What happens though if Cinderella isn’t really into Prince Charming and the Ugly Step-Sister has been into him since she was like three years old?

You get the Ugly Stepsister Strikes back by Sariah Wilson

In this modern, young adult remake of the tale, the ugly stepsister is played by Mattie Lowe. Mattie is a senior in high school with a snarky, quirky, artistic attitude. She has a father who is a famous artist and a beautiful stepsister named Ella who seems to be perfection personified.

Ella is smart, beautiful, has a part-time job all the adults love her and worst of all she is dating Jake Kingston!

Jake Kingston is the typical jock and is the school’s biggest heart-throb.

Mattie has always wondered why Ella and Jake are dating but never really seem to spend time together. But she can’t be “that girl”. You know, the girl who has a thing for her sister’s boyfriend.

What happens though when she is forced to spend time with Jake because of a school assignment? Can Mattie keep things on a strictly work level?  Does Ella like someone else?

Hmm… I guess you’ll have to read the book to find out!

Hello Romantics!

Have you ever heard the saying,”You can’t judge a book by its cover?”  Most of the time that statement is an out an out lie. As a personal lover of Clean Romance novels, I know If I see a bare chested man on the cover it is definitely going to have at least one sex scene or lewd innuendo somewhere in the book.

…Or is it?

Now I will tell you I only downloaded the book after reading the reviews on the Amazon page. If I hadn’t The Rancher by Kelli Ann Morgan would have never made it onto my kindle.

The Rancher is the first book in a series called the Redbourne Series. The series follows the love lives of the Redbourne brothers.  First up is Cole Redbourne

Cole had a very dear friend who died a few years back whose dying wish to Cole was for him to go find his sweetheart, Abigail McCallister, and let him know that he never forgot her and that he loved her till his dying day.

Abigail, Abby to her friends, has been waiting for her long-lost love to come back and marry her but her time of waiting is up.  Her father has told her that if she doesn’t marry by Friday morning that she will be shipped off to live with her aunt.  You see Abby is not your average woman.  She is more comfortable in men’s clothes and using a gun than wearing a dress and having tea in the parlor.

Abby has decided to take her father’s challenge to heart and goes to the nearest town, dressed in her mother’s wedding dress and announces that she is looking for a husband.

Cole has just entered the town after riding in from Kansas and see’s a pretty redhead declaring that she is looking for a husband.  Imagine his shock when he finds out that she is the same woman his dead friend sent him to find?

Not knowing what else to do, Cole decides to marry Abby.

Will Cole and Abby be able to make their marriage work? What about the mysterious happenings going on around the area, who is behind the accidents?  Are Cole and Abby really married?

Make sure you read the book to find out!

Very nice kiss scenes, a few times the story dragged for me but all in all good clean romance. Even with a bare-chested man on the cover. (Nice abs by the way)

Love at First Date by Susan Hatler

Kindle Paperwhite e-reader

Hello Romantics!

I’m back with another great read that will be sure to make you happy!

This week’s pick is a sweet little short story called Love at First Date by Susan Hatler

Love at First Date is actually the first book in a series called Better Date than Never. The series follows a group of women who are all friends in the Sacramento area. First up is Ellen a very practical, no-nonsense, very pragmatic type of girl who, after watching her mother’s failed relationships, turns to online dating to find her perfect match. She has narrowed the field down to two men whom she decides to have her first face to face dates with.

While trying to figure out who to go out with first her best friend Rachel asks her for a big favor…watch her pure bred beagle puppy, Chester, while she goes on a date.

Now, for those of you like me, people who see animals as just what they are, umm animals, you will probably see this as a little bit of a ridiculous request. However, for those people who see their pets as children, (I personally don’t get it.) this request makes perfect sense.

Ellen happens to fall in the first category but allows herself to be talked into baby-sitting because this is the first time Rachel has wanted to go on a date in about a year since her jerk of an ex-boyfriend cheated on her with Rachel’s hair stylist.

After returning from a little walk with Chester, Ellen turns to make herself dinner and answer some emails when he hears a ghastly choking noise. Chester, has gotten into her purse and is choking on something he’s stolen out of it!

In a panic, Ellen quickly looks up the closest Emergency Veterinarian Hospital and takes off.

Ellen rushes into the hospital sees a bunch of people in the waiting room but doesn’t see anyone at the receptionist’s desk. Not knowing what else to do she starts yelling for a doctor trying to find someone to help the wayward dog. One of the patrons comes forward and volunteers to assist. Tall, handsome Henry to the rescue! After, examining Chester’s mouth. Henry pulls out a wad of blonde hair. It seems Chester tried to make a snack out of the hair stuck in Ellen’s hairbrush. (Ewww…gross!!!)

With death averted Chester goes on to create a little havoc in the waiting room while Ellen thanks Henry for saving the life of her friends dog. She then finds out that everyone there is waiting for an obedience training class for their pets and on a whim (as well as a way to get to know Henry better) Ellen decides to join the class.

Will Ellen give Henry a chance even though he hasn’t gone through her online screening process? What about the two guys she’s been emailing? Will Chester ever learn how to behave?

You’ll have to read the book to find out!
